The dispenser is the heart of the ATM. A clean dispenser keeps the ATM running smoothly, while a dirty dispenser can be a frustrating problem source. Bill jams, an abundance of rejected bills, or a dispensing failure can all happen because your dispenser is dirty.

It’s imperative to keep your ATM dispenser clean. It’s also very easy to do. Here’s how:

  1. Pull the tray the dispenser is mounted outside of the ATM. This can be done by opening the vault door, removing the set screw — it may or may not have a set screw — and pulling the tray. This way you can see your entire dispenser. (If you have a Triton ATM with a black, plastic dispenser, you will not be able to pull the dispenser outside of the ATM. In this case, open the flaps on the dispenser, and blow out each flap with canned air).
  2. Remove the cassette.
  3. Use a can of compressed air to blow the dust and dirt off the dispenser. Make sure to blow air in every nook and cranny to ensure the dispenser sensors are cleaned off. If the sensors get dirty, the higher chance the sensor has of malfunctioning.
  4. If the dispenser is especially dirty, dampen a cloth with warm water and wipe the dispenser off. DO NOT USE chemicals or cleaning solutions as it can cause the dispenser belts and picking wheels to harden and crack.

If you see your dispenser collecting dust, it’s better to clean it right away rather than waiting. If you’re cleaning your dispenser, and have questions, please give our office a call at 855-764-2867.
